Coven of Mysty Mountain

Often referred to as "The Appalachian Granny Magick Tradition." It is one that is only recently being heard of, though the tradition is actually a very old one. It dates all the way back to the first settlers of the magickal Appalachian Mountains who came over from Scotland, England and Ireland in the 1700’s. They brought their even older Magickal Traditions along with them. Those very “Old World” traditions were then blended with a dash of the local tradition of the Tsalagi (Now called the Cherokee Indians.) The recipe for the Appalachian Granny Magick Tradition was then complete, though this potion simmered on a low boil for many generations before anyone dubbed it with the name, 'Appalachian Granny Magick'.

I am Lady Belladonna Galadriel Temperance Elensaar. I am a Third Degree High Priestess of the Church of Iron Oak. I am the founder, Principal Coven Leader and High Priestess of The Coven of Mysty Mountain. . I grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and believe myself to be a generation witch, as I was raised by my Grandmother as well as my Mother, and have been exposed to many forms of what we call Mountain Magick! My Grandmother and Mother were both blessed with the gift of sight. I am an Empath and have always felt I have been blessed with the gift of Healing. Glowyn of Malabar is the acting High Priest of our Coven. Mysty Mountain started out in 2001 as a Grove and attained the status of Coven in 2005.

Our course of studies includes, but is not limited to: the Art of Spellwork, Herbology, Astrology, Divination, Discovering our Roots through Genealogy and the Art of Ritual.

We conduct an annual Earth Cleansing Rite every April to celebrate in honor of Earth Day! We have been doing this ritual for over a decade. This ritual is now considered one of Mysty Mountain's most important contributions to our community.

Glo and I hope that this brief description of our tradition helps you understand what is the basic foundation of the Coven of Mysty Mountain.

Blessed Be!
